I do not want to drink too much coffee but when I did I like rich dark beer. You can not beat the French press for the production of Robusta coffee - especially if you use freshly ground coffee. My recipe: Heat 16 oz of bottled water or filtered water in a microwave in a Pyrex measuring cup. Meanwhile grind 1 / 3 cup of French roast coffee and put them to the point. When the water boils to break before the bubble stops completely. Then add a point to mix with a wooden spoon and let steep four minutes before the piston. Mmmmm! This item will also get 24 oz of water that you would use half cup of beans. Because the water is boiling coffee never disbanded French roast coffee prepared in this way is very good despite the use of dark roasted beans. (34-ounce description seems to me an error - my own 24 oz and only three cups of coffee cups MY!)

Bodum Brazil 8-Cup (34-Ounce) Coffee Press
Great coffee...but this pot can be dangerous!
I loved my Bodum coffee press and the coffee it made...until 2 weeks ago when the pot exploded while I was pressing my coffee! Since I was wearing only a tee-shirt, I had little protection from the scalding water. Results: 1st and 2nd degree burns across my abdomen, an expensive visit to the emergency room, a couple of very painful days, 2 weeks of unpleasant dressing changes twice a day over an area approximately 12-in x 4-in.
So I admonish all users, PLEASE READ AND FOLLOW THE SAFETY GUIDELINES FOR USE! Enjoy your pressed coffee; but, don't fight the press when it sticks--as did I--and don't press harder--as did I. To add insult to my (very personal) injury, I got to clean-up my coffee-covered ceiling, floor, cabinets, counter tops--and everything on them. However, I was unable to remove all the coffee stains; they remain as testimony to my carelessness. Of course, my next press will be a stainless steel pot!

Love it!
This coffee press is excellent! Coffee tastes always fresh & excellent. Dumping the ground, wet beans isn't the easiest or neatest thing to do after the pot is empty, but the inconvenience is nothing compared to a great cup of coffee!

tasty indeed
Bought this french press in preparation for a camping trip, as it turns out we now use it in the weekends too at home because the coffee comes out so good. I bought this one because it had a great price and because a coworker of mine has had it for years and it seems to have many years of life left. We're pretty happy with it.

coffee at its best
I love my coffee press! Yes, it does use a bit more coffee but it is so good it is worth it. One of my better purchases.

Glad I Bought It
For the money, a French Press is a great way to go. This one has been flawless (I've had it a couple of months). More specific comments and recommendations:
I prefer buying ground coffee (coarse of course) rather than grinding it myself, because my Capresso burr grinder spits out a bit of dust which "muddies the water", so to speak, when using a french press.
The instructions say to take the plunger mechanism apart each time to clean, but I find it much easier to just loosen the parts by twisting the rod, and while loose you can run water through the pieces to clean them very effectively. This just takes a few seconds.
I wish there were an easier way to get the spent grounds out of the bottom, but this is the case with all french presses. I fill the press about 3/4 of the way with water and then cup my hand over the top and shake it, and dump the gunk in the back yard.
I considered a Technivorm Moccamaster Drip Coffee Maker (a friend has one and it produces the best tasting coffee I've ever had) but the $300 price was too steep for me. Some day, maybe. For now, this $20 Bodum is really slick.

There's coffee, then there's French Press coffee...
I am honestly amazed at how this product has revolutionized the way I think about drinking coffee. And it's such a simple concept too! Like many people, I used a small automatic drip machine for years to brew my coffee. Yet, it never tasted as good as what I could get from walking over to Starbucks, or the local coffee houses. Eventually I just gave up on making my own coffee. To me, coffee has always been about carving out a few minutes of my day to slow down and enjoy the sight, smell, and taste of this drink. Drip coffee? Not cutting it.
After doing some financial research and discovering how much I was spending at the local Starbucks each month, I thought that there had to be a way to make my daily brew at home and have it taste good too. My first inkling was to purchase one of those Keurig single-cup machines with the pre-measured coffee inserts. However, the environmentalist in me cringed at the prospect of all that individual packaging. The coffee purist in me wavered at the thought of using pre-packaged, pre-ground coffee. So, after walking through Target during one of those "spending way more money than I should because everything here is awesome" trips, I opted to try out this Bodum 8-"cup" (cup, being 4 oz in Bodum Land) French Press.
Following the instructions, I made my first brew of coffee that next morning and, honestly, it was the best home made coffee I have ever tasted. It is so good, and so far superior to drip coffee in quality, taste, texture, and aroma, that I wouldn't hesitate to say that pressed coffee is an entire genre unto itself. I probably lack the coffee vocabulary to explain how it tastes. It's just better, plain and simple. It's smooth, complex, and very tasty.
Wonderful product. Easy to clean, easy to use, and it produces a cup of coffee superior to all others. Plus it looks neat.
